A Thuisti,

Girls’ Football Final

The Football Final last Saturday ended in a huge disappointment for our girls. They were beaten narrowly by a strong Castletown team. In defeat our girls displayed courage, determination and skill. We are immensely proud of their efforts this year and they, too, should be proud of themselves. They fought valiantly to the very end and this was exemplified by scoring two fantastic late goals. Well done to all our girls Katelyn ,Grace, Hannah, Robyn, Emily, Róisín, Áine, Cara, Ava, Grace, Lucy, Isabelle, Jay Jay, Kaneesha, Lucy, Freya, Sarah, Eve, Isobel, Kayla and Grace.

Thanks to Ms. Reynolds and Teresa for their huge efforts in training the girls this year. A big thanks to parents/guardians, teachers for their great support.

Please return all jerseys, shorts and socks this week.

Communication Questionnnaire

I sent out a ‘Communication Questionnaire’ last week. We sincerely thank everyone who completed and returned them. The feedback was very positive. All respondents were happy with the quality and quantity of information in the weekly newsletters. A number of people weren’t aware of the RST newsletter. This is a parish newsletter which is printed every 5/6 weeks. Most households in the parish receive one. It is also available from Swans shop. Some parents suggested that they would like to get the weekly newsletter by e-mail also. This is something that we’ve been looking into. I will discuss this with the Board of Management at the next meeting.

Parent/Teacher Meetings

Most parents/guardians attended parent/teacher meetings last week. If you were unable to meet with the class teacher last week please make an appointment at your earliest convenience. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school at any time during the year to make an appointment with the class teacher to discuss your child’s academic and social development.

Christmas Shoe Box

Rathfeigh National School would like to help disadvantaged children in Co. Meath, by collecting Christmas shoe boxes for the Meath Christmas Shoebox Appeal for Disadvantaged Children. Please pick an age group and whether it’s for a girl or a boy, write this on a detachable gift tag, wrap your box in Christmas wrapping paper, but do not seal the box closed; then fill your box with lovely gifts. All boxes must be collected by Friday the 6th of December.

We will have a Christmas Tree at reception next week. The children can put the boxes under the tree until they are collected.

Age groups: 3 – 6 years old; 6 -10 years old; 10 – 16 years old.

Recommended gifts: Toys; Stationary; Clothes: hats, gloves, scarves, socks, pyjamas, Jewellery; Toiletries: toothbrush, face cloth, hair brush and hair accessories; Chocolates and sweets with long lasting expiry dates.

Christmas Annuals

Folens Christmas Annuals are available from the office for €4.00. If you wish to buy one please send money in an envelope.

Speed Monitor

We have been talking to Meath County Council for a long time in order to get a speed monitor outside the school. Eventually, last week they installed one. We hope this will have a positive impact on road users’ behaviour. The speed limit outside the school is 50 Kph. Please respect this for the safety of all our children.

School Closure

The school will be closed this Friday November 29th to facilitate a staff in-service day in Navan Education Centre on the New Primary Language Curriculum.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
