Meath Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Please find attached information on the Shoe Box appeal. The closing date for bringing the boxes into school is December 7th. We hope to have our school Christmas Tree up by then. The children can put the Christmas Boxes under the tree until they are collected on December 7th.

School Caretaker

As you know John finished as caretaker in our school at Halloween. Our new caretaker is Jackie Ross. We are delighted and fortunate to have Jackie on our staff. We wish Jackie the best of luck in her new role.

Book Fair

The Book Fair was a great success this year. Thanks to Carol and Teresa for all their help during the week and to Mrs Campbell for co-ordinating it. A huge amount of books were purchased by the children. As a result we got approximately €1000 worth of free books.

Pottery Classes

Six weeks ago I spoke with Gráinne Rafter about the possibility of doing a pottery class in our school. We are lucky and delighted that she is coming to the school on Wednesday 5th December to do pottery lessons in all classes. The cost per pupil is €2.00. Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible.

Computer Classes

The children will have their final computer class this Wednesday. They are progressing really well and thoroughly enjoying the lessons. We hope to have another four lessons at the start of 2019. A big thanks to Steven Durkan who has donated €500 towards the cost of purchasing computers.

Science in a Box

The pupils in 5th and 6th completed their third science lesson today. The lessons are challenging but pitched at the right level for 5th and 6th. A big thanks to Clare for giving of her time every Monday to teach the lessons.

‘Forces of Nature’ Art Competition

Congratulations to all the pupils in Rathfeigh who qualified for the next round of the ‘Forces of  Nature’ art competition.

Gaeilge

The following are the ‘Briathra na Seachtaine’ we have used so far this year Dún, Ith, Oscail, Siúl, Cuir, Glan. The children should be encouraged to use these verts at home daily.

This week’s briathar na seachtaine is Tabhair (to give) e.g. Tabhair dom do pheann luaidhe (Give me your pencil). Tabhair dom  milseán más é do thoil é (Give me a sweet please).

Hurling

The children had their fourth hurling training session in the school today. A big thanks to Kilmessan Hurling Club for facilitating this.

Spirit of the Final Award

Congratulations to Hannah Clarke who received the ‘Spirit of  the Final Award ‘ at the  Cumann ma MBunscoil  Girls football final on November 17th .

School Closed

The school will be closed next Monday December 3rd for an in-school planning day.
