A Thuisti,
First Communion
The children in Third class received their First Holy Communion on Saturday in Rathfeigh Church. It was a beautiful ceremony despite the restrictions of Covid-19. The children showed great maturity on the day and their prayers were delivered with confidence despite not having practices in the church. I’m sure they enjoyed their special day with their families. A lot of work went into the ceremony and there are so many people to thank – Fr. Thomas for the lovely ceremony, Rita for playing the organ, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs Vaughan for decorating the Church and the Parents’ Association (Mary and Sinead) for organising certificates/treats for the children. The children, of course, deserve the most credit. They were denied the chance beforehand to practice in the Church due to restrictions. Despite this they were very assured in everything they had to do during the ceremony. They deserve great credit. Well done to them all. A special thanks to Helen for printing the Communion Booklet and for laminating all the children’s prayers.
Halloween Fancy Dress/Pumpkin Competition
We will have our annual Fancy Dress and pumpkin competition in the school on Friday 22nd October. It’s one of the highlights of the school year for the children so please encourage your child to dress up. Last year the pumpkin competition was done on Edmodo due to Covid. This year the children will design their pumpkins at home and will bring them to the school hall on Friday morning October 22nd. Younger children may not be able to lift their pumpkins so parents/guardians can bring them into the hall. We will have a ‘one-way’ system in operation due to Covid. The school will close at 1.40p.m. on October 22nd.
Computer Classes
Due to Covid-19 it’s been over eighteen months since Colm did computer classes with the children in our computer room. Colm will be doing four Wednesday sessions in the school starting this week. The cost is €7.00 for the four lessons. Please send in money in an envelope. Exact amount please.
Open Day
We have our Open Day this Saturday from 11.00a.m. to 3.00p.m. in the school. The more people that know about the Open Day the better so please let as many people as possible know about the event. Thanks.
Parents’ Association Fundraiser
All families received, an e-mail last week about the Cash-for-Clobber fundraiser. This is an important fundraiser for our school. The money received will be used for the educational and social development of the children.
Credit Union Art Competition
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Imagine’. The children were given A3 sheets for the competition last week. The children will bring home application forms today which must be signed by Parents/Guardians. The closing date is this Thursday October 15th.
Return to School Declaration Form
If your child is absent from school for any reason we ask you to please fill in the Return to School Declaration Form which is on the school website.
