A Thuisti,
Science –in-a-Box
The Science-in-a-Box programme with 5th/6th class pupils is nearing completion. They have discussed many important topics over the course of the last few weeks which should hopefully help them when they get to secondary school, Suzanne, who has delivered the lessons has been excellent and she interacts very positively with the pupils.
We were delighted to have a live question and answer session with Professor Luke O’Neill last Thursday. All the children who wanted to ask questions to Luke were given the opportunity to do so. The level of questioning was fantastic and ranged from science questions to the food he likes and also about his band. It was a really memorable occasion and we thank Luke for giving his time to us. Once again we thank Eimear for sponsoring this programme this year. Eimear has two Luke O’Neill books which will be given as spot prizes on completion of the programme.
School Crest Art
Róisín is progressing well with the ‘School Crest’ artwork at the front of the school hall. The poor weather on Thursday and Friday has delayed its completion by a day or two. Hopefully it will be completed at some stage this week. I’m sure the children are looking forward to its completion. A big thanks to Róisín for completing this mammoth task.
Standardised Tests
All the children in First to Sixth classes will be administered the standardised tests in Irish, English and Maths next week. (June 1st, June 2nd and June 3rd ). The pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th will be able to use a calculator for some sections of their maths tests. All these children must have their own calculator.
June Bank Holiday
The school will be closed on Friday June 4th, Monday June7th and Tuesday June 8th for the June Bank Holiday Weekend.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
