12th October, 2015.

A Thuisti,

We are having our Friendship/Anti-Bullying week from October 19th to October 23rd. During this week we will be promoting friendship at school and helping the children understand the importance of friendship in their lives. We will be educating the children about bullying and reinforcing the fact that we have an Anti-Bullying Policy in place. We will continue to promote an atmosphere of respect amongst the school community between children, teachers and parents. Our Anti-Bullying Policy is on the school website (rathfeighns.org). If you do not have access to a computer a hard copy of the policy is available from the office.

This week is Maths Week. During the week all classes will do a variety of interesting maths activities. On our school website we have a number of interesting mathematical websites that are worth logging onto. Please log onto mathsweek.ie also for information on events taking place during the week, activities, maths art etc.

Our Boys’ and Girls’ football teams narrowly missed out on reaching the quarter finals last week. They did really well this year and we are extremely proud of their efforts. They represented the school well, played fairly and always showed respect to their opponents in victory and in defeat. We thank Ms. O’ Donoghue for training the girls team this year.

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes are playing in a tag rugby blitz in Ashbourne Rugby club this Friday (Oct 16th). They will be leaving at 9.15a.m. and back at 12.45p.m.The cost of the bus is €4.00. ( Please send in money in an envelope with child’s name and class on it).

The pupils in Sixth class will be visiting Ashbourne Library to see “ The Merchant of Ennis” on Monday ( Oct 19th ). Fourth and Fifth classes will be visiting Dunshaughlin Library on Tuesday (Oct 20th) for storytelling by the author Matt Griffin. These events are free but the cost of the bus is €4.00p.p.

Accord facilitators will deliver the RSE programme to sixth class pupils tomorrow. Our RSE policy can be viewed on the school website.

The Parents’ Association A.G.M. takes place this Wednesday (Oct. 14th) in the school at 8.00p.m. sharp. A vibrant Parents’ Association is vital for our school. It would be great if a member of each household attends the meeting.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s education please make an appointment with the class teacher.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
