11th April, 2016.

A Thuisti,

We collected €400 on our Jersey Day last Friday. This money will be used for cancer research and treatment services in Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda. We are extremely grateful to everyone who gave so generously. Well done to all the girls and boys who won the penalty kick competitions.

The sixth class pupils will receive their Confirmation in Skryne Church this Sunday at 1.00p.m. We hope they all have an enjoyable and spiritual day with their families and friends. There is choir practice tomorrow morning in Skryne Church from 9.30 to 11.00a.m. The children will be leaving the school at 9.25a.m. We will need help with lifts. On Thursday 14th there will be a Confirmation and Choir practice from 9.30 to 11.30a.m. We will be leaving the school at 9.25a.m.

As you all know Confirmation is on Sunday 14th . It’s Rathfeigh School’s turn to host the refreshments in the hall afterwards. Last year there was approximately 350 people in the hall. We need volunteers to set up on Saturday from 3.00p.m. and from 1.00p.m. on Sunday to serve the refreshments and steward the car park. We also need some donations of cakes/ buns etc which can be left into the hall from 12.00 noon on Sunday. All help will be greatly appreciated. If you are free please contact Kieran Larmer on 086-8037960 or Helen in the office.

Gymnastics continues this Wednesday after school. There was a very positive feedback after the first session. A big thanks to all the parents who are helping the instructors during the sessions.

Due to a lot of interest from parents Irish classes for parents will be starting soon in the RST Centre in Skryne. They will take place on Monday evenings from 7.30p.m. to 8.30p.m. for approximately 8-10 weeks. These classes would benefit parents who have very little Irish and would like to improve their confidence in speaking the language. The classes will be small. Please fill out the slip if you are interested in attending these classes. The classes will be facilitated by Maria O’ Kane. The cost hasn’t yet been finalised but should be in the region of €30.00 for 8 to 10 classes.

We are currently undertaking a review of our Homework Policy. A central part of this review is to get the views of all the parents. Please fill out the Parental Questionnaire and return it to the school by Wednesday April 13th. We will get the views of the children also when they fill out a pupil questionnaire later in the week at school.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
