2nd March 2015.

A Thuisti,

The Stay Safe Programme continues this week. Worksheets to accompany the lessons may be given as homework and must be signed by a parent or guardian. It is important that you use these to discuss the content of the lesson with your child.

We would like to thank the Parents’ Association for their large contribution towards the purchase of mathematical (problem solving) resources. The support of the Parents’ Association over the last few years has been invaluable and we thank them for their continued support.

Our quiz team took part in the Meath Credit Union final last Friday. They scored really well on the night but unfortunately didn’t make it through to the All-Ireland final. They represented the school really well and we are very proud of their efforts. A big thanks to Mrs Vaughan for preparing the team so well.

The Boys’ 7-a-side Gaelic Football team play in Skryne tomorrow (Tuesday 3rd) . They will play four games. The first game starts at 3.15p.m. and the final game will finish at 4.45 p.m. approximately.

The Girls’ 7-a-side Gaelic Football team play in Skryne on Thursday (5th). The first game is due to start at 3.00p.m. The final game should finish at 4.45p.m.. A big thanks to Ms. O’ Donoghue for training the girls’ team.

Sixth class pupils have a Pre-Confirmation Mass practise in Skryne Church this Friday (6th) at 1.30p.m. The children will be leaving the school at 1.20p.m. We will need help with lifts.

This Thursday (March5th) is World Book Day. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading. Each child will receive a €1.50 World Book Day Token. The token can be used in participating bookshops and redeemed for a selection of ‘World Book Day’ books (www.worldbookday.com).

I visited all classes on Friday to look at the handwriting of all pupils. The standard of handwriting in each class was excellent. The childrens’ handwriting is on display in the corridor and parents/guardians are welcome to view these at any time.

Finally we have copies of the 2015 Calendar produced by the Parents’ Association for sale from the office the cost is €10.00.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
